I do have a work-around, and that should get you playing multiplayer immediately, since, it may take some time for the issue to be located and repaired. It looks like there is an issue with the Linux Steam CD key generation in 8193, so, the game is asking you to input one manually when it should be creating one. This is the response I got from support and can confirm it works.
